This is a very good point and it bears mention that we will under no circumstances request your account password. If you get a mail claiming that one or more of your accounts have been banned yet your accounts have not been banned then chances are that you've gotten a phishing mail.
If you have any reason to suspect that the banmail you've gotten is not legitimate, do mail [email protected] rather than responding to the mail itself. Another thing of note is that our banmails do not have any links within them, if the mail asks you to go to log in to a webpage of some sort in order to sort the matter out then it is a phishing mail.

So non-constructive critisism is still bannable?
Poor choice of words on my part, nice catch! Criticism alone, constructive or otherwise, is not a bannable offense. Action may be taken if the form of criticism violates the EULA/TOS, the chances of which are much higher if the criticism is of the non-constructive variety. Threatening bodily harm to any of our staff or another player would examples of such a violation.
I am wondering, if as a certain person said "The tone and demeanor of my blog on Friday did not correctly portray my emotions towards the community and player base at large. I love and respect EVE and its community on a level that's hard to really do justice in words. However I let my frustration take charge of me, fueled by emotions that had built up due to a breach of trust we at CCP have been experiencing over the past few days. I know that sounds ironic considering those are the exact same feelings you have been having towards CCP."
A slight tangent here, I wonder if CCP would consider, as a gesture, taking a more conciliatory tone towards certain players who let off rather too much steam during those frantic few days.
Certainly nobody deserves threats and abuse just for doing their job and I can certainly understand taking the ban hammer to enforce a cool down for hot heads, but don't we all deserve a second chance when reacting in the heat of the moment? just like Arnar did and does?
